History of the A100

Heather Allegrina and Tom Schiedel at the 2011 Allegrina 100

The Allegrina 100 is an annual cycling event founded to honor and remember John Allegrina and to celebrate all fathers gone too soon. The first Allegrina 100 was held June 21, 2009, which was both Father’s Day and John’s first birthday after his passing. His daughter Heather and her husband Brian got together with a small group of cycling pals and decided to spend the day on the bike.

Since that first year, the ride has grown leaps and bounds because of it combination of beautiful route, pleasant company and wonderful after party. Starting in 2012, the Allegrina 100 will became the signature fundraiser for the John Allegrina Memorial Scholarship at Grand Valley State University.
